In my opinion it looks like a great idea ! This trail will be fantastic! The long-haul "thru hikers" will love it!
One curious thing about the routing is the use of the black cone trail, that trail is way inland of the coast ridge. It seems like it would have been possible to route the trail along the coast ridge between the Pine Ridge trail and the Lost Valley cutoff trail. If you are squeamish of routing the trail thru private property along the coast ridge then you could create short bypasses to get around each of the private properties. There is no easement required for the FS land, though there may be an easment needed to go through private property. I count 4 private properties which would need to be bypassed, then the remainder of the north coast ridge road could be used without crossing any private land.

Very ambitious to include some of these trails like Black cone and Manuel trail. I'm pro-hiker and pro-trails for sure, but maybe it's just because i'm protective of our wilderness and I happen to live right by part of this proposed trail :D ; this makes me a bit nervous. I've through hiked the Pacific Crest trail and seen first hand the potential problems a popular long trail brings. If the California Coastal Trail is ever as popular as that trail, and it very well could be, it could bring thousands of hikers through each season. That's quite a bit of fire danger, human waste, trash, improvised campsites, etc. I'm definitely not trying to be that guy, cause the idea of this trail system seems pretty cool, it also seems risky

Making a rough conversion from large-scale straight-line increments to with-actual-trail-wiggles, I estimate 12 new miles of "new trail" would need to be constructed inside the National Forest (with additional outside). Plus "restoration" of 4 miles of the Mt Manual Trail and 3 miles of "conversion" from use trail to real trail. The distance along Route 1 is 8-9 miles.

The trail is diverted onto a long stretch of Highway One between Willow Creek and Kirk Creek. Another option is to route the trail on the South Coast Ridge Road and Cone Peak road. The Big Sur Multi Agency Advisory Council has the Coastal Trail on its agenda as item V Friday April 9th from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The meeting can be attended as follows:

Check out this fascinating new trail !
https://www.bigsurcct.net/map.html

Interesting choices:

- Black Cone trail part of the Coastal Trail
- Not showing the coast ridge road/trail on the maps
- Cool new trail over Skinner Ridge to Pico Boy Scout camp
- Revamping the Manuel trail
- Great new trail from Mt Carmel northward
