General Condition: Wilderness Freeway (Heavily used and/or well maintained)
I hiked this trail from the Pine Ridge Trail intersection to the North Coast Ridge Road. It is completely clear without a single deadfall or any encroaching brush. I camped out at the "outlaw camp" at the last crossing with Terrace Creek and I think this is a fine campsite, even if it isn't the REAL Outlaw Camp. Terrace Creek Camp itself was completely full, as would be expected on a weekend.

Trail is in excellent shape.
As an update to the previous report, the toilet at Terrace Creek Camp has been repaired by volunteers.

General Condition: Clear (no obstacles and tread well defined)
Date Hiked July 19, 2013. The Trail is in good shape and stock passible, no down trees across the trail and although brush is encroaching into the trail in places the trail is passable. There is a campsite that pops up every week or so at the first creek crossing of Terrace Creek walking down from the North Coast Ridge Road, people seem to think this is Outlaw Camp however the camp is too close to the water for a campsite and the camp is in the middle of the trail. While at Terrace Creek Camp we hauled out about 15 pounds of trash and dug a new wilderness toilet, the wood toilet box is in poor repair and needs to be replaced.

The final large redwood was removed thanks to the Big Sur Crew.
Work to clear loose debris on tread is always ongoing, but otherwise this trail can now be classified a Wilderness Freeway and hopefully winter won't bring down any new huge big trees.

Two FS crews have worked this trail this summer. Major brush (ceanothus, etc) has been removed and only some weeds and poison oak in a few places encroaches. Some debris on trail.
Only one tree across the trail remains with a 10-foot long shortcut to bypass it.

Did the trail this weekend and it was passable. Clearly not as used as Pine Ridge, with more leaves on the trail, but definitely still passable for this short, steep 2-mile switchback hike. Several fallen trees, especially in the upper and mid section. But it was just a bit more work to go over or under them. More importantly, there was no problems with it being too brushy. Passable.

General Condition: Difficult (brushy and/or many deadfalls, faint tread)
There are many large Redwoods down on the Terrace Creek Trail from The North Coast Ridge Road to Terrace Creek Camp. Mike Heard and myself worked the Upper Section of the Terrace Creek trail on Saturday Dec 10, 2011. On Sunday Robert Barringer and Four Volunteers joined us and we were able to open the trail up of most of the Upper Section of the trail. The large Redwoods will require Chain Saws. The Lower Section of the Trail is still very rugged with many large Redwood Branches and Blowdowns on the trail.

We hiked from Terrace Creek/Pine Ridge intersection to the Coastal Ridge road. The trail was not as well tread as the Pine Ridge trail, but passable and easily followed. There was more brush encroaching on this one, especially higher up. Saw a few snakes along the way near the top - beware. Poison Oak was also more prevalent and harder to avoid here - some growths were quite large and overhanging the trail. River crossings were easy although the creek was running well. No deadfall to speak of. Make sure to fill up your bottles while crossing Terrace Creek - there's no water once you get away from it, and it is quite hot and dry on the way back down to Hwy 1.

General Condition: Wilderness Freeway (Heavily used and well maintained)
Hiked from east to west on 6/13. Despite a warning sign at the trailhead, the trail was totally clear aside from the few little obstacles mentioned below. It was a lovely, shady downhill trot, and we had a terrifically peaceful and secluded night at outlaw camp at the end.
