Another forecast predicting at least a normal rain year for California. What a nice change it will be from the previous few years.

2008-2009 Rainfall Forcast?

Post by Duane »

I've been searching online for winter forcasts for Southern and Central California (basically, the area encompassing the Los Padres National Forest). I'm reading everything from "below normal" to "possible El Nino conditions developing."

Below normal: http://www.almanac.com/weatherforecast/us/16
"Rainfall and mountain snowfall will be below normal, with the stormiest periods in mid-November, mid-January, late February, and mid-March."

Possible El Nino: http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib ... ather.html
"At this point, conditions in a key area of the central Pacific are considered neutral, meaning chances of a wet, dry or normal winter are about equal. But by the end of summer, it could be a whole new ballgame. Some forecast models envision the return of El Niño, which usually brings us buckets of rain."

Anyone have any thoughts whether or not this is going to be another dry year?
