Cone Peak Road Gate?

Parked at the closed gate on 1/24/18 and hiked 5+ miles past vencent flats trail head. Road in good condition and very pleasant hike. Scouting out overnight backpacking trip for Feb. that I'm planning on....

There's plenty parking in a turnout next to the gate. Just don't block the road & you'll be fine.

Found out that the Cone Peak Road gate closed on 1/9/18, and doesn't look likely to open by early Feb.

Anyone know where the closest place to the gate is I would be able to park?

I've read that the Cone Peak Road gate (at Nacimiento-Fergusson Road) is closed seasonally, but I haven't been able to figure out when it is closed or open. Can anyone enlighten me?

Also curious if anyone has driven up Cone Peak Road recently (up to either Vicente Flat trailhead or Cone Peak Trail trailhead) and can comment on the road condition?

I'm considering a Cone Peak loop in early February, and want to get an idea where I will need to start from.
