I'm glad this one was contained so quickly, but as this photos attests, suppression efforts made a real mess of Santa Lucia Creek near the Arroyo Seco confluence.

I imagine so. No one was posted at the Cawatre Trailhead at the time.

I assume he was also keeping people from using the Santa Lucia Trail. Wonder if they also had someone at the Camp Cawatre Trail trailhead. Might drop down there myself tomorrow ...

I checked in on the gorge area Thursday 7/13. A firefighter was stationed at the parking lot turning back anyone attempting to walk Arroyo Seco-Indians Road. He contended (his Phos-Check-spattered truck & other FS staff in the area confirmed) that aircraft had brought in retardant drops on Wednesday afternoon/evening. Crews apparently spent much of Thursday mopping up embers, extinguishing smoking logs, etc. The "Lucia Fire" never made it as far as Incident Web (https://inciweb.nwcg.gov/state/5/), which is a good thing, so I guess we should assume it's over & out.

Not much to report on the "Lucia" fire at Arroyo Seco which was reported yesterday evening. It was fought primarily from the air. Firefighters and investigators are on the scene. People in the area are not seeing any smoke. We should have more information later this afternoon. But for now, it appears that the firefighters got to it early and have the opportunity to thoroughly extinguish it.

Arroyo Seco Gorge Fire

Uh oh. A wildfire has been reported near the intersection of Indians-ArroyoSeco Road and Camp Cawatre Road with "potential to be a large fire".
