Re: Los Padres Closure
Betsy, I have to agree. Yes, there are some bad issues to address, however as things were surveyed many of the trails can be opened now from what I can see. Hopefully, they will go back to normal operations closing only facilities that need repair and opening many of the areas people love to travers...

From my friend the pipe goes up the hill approx. 150 feet to a large bush believed to be poison oak. What the actual spring looks like he did not remember.

Re: Advice on where to park - Cone Peak trip
If you are parking at the Kirk Creek/Vicente Flat Trailhead, there should be no problem. If you are planning to sleep in your car, that is a whole another issue as that is not allowed. There is a pull out right at the trailhead. Hide or take any valuables with you. Folks Park their extra vehicles fr...

Re: The canyon that ate Cone Peak Road
They are working on an emergency repair order because of the fire. If they get funding, then they will work to set a timeline for repairs. Nacimiento has a preliminary estimate of the end of 2023. But again, that is not definite. It all depends on funding, design and construction timelines.

Re: Redwood Spring Camp
Thanks for clearing the camp. It does make it easier for others to find and shows that someone has been there. It is also nice to see the camp marked even though technically from what I have been told there are no official USFS Camps in the Los Padres.

Re: All Los Padres National Forest is Now Closed
If you got the latest post on Facebook or VWA E-mail. The VWA is advocating for opening up the unburned areas where possible. They continue to work and prepare for its reopening when the time comes. However, at last report the Dolan Fire is still smoldering and burning in many areas. The Los Padres ...

Re: Silver Peak - Trail or No Trail
The route you speak of may be a deer trail or heavily overgrown. Be prepared for some heavy bushwhacking.
At this time the Silver Peak Wilderness is closed to the general public. It will remain closed until the Dolan Fire is declared out.
