Re: So. coast ridge road as far south as Lottie Potrero?

When they say it is open only so far they (USFS) are probably referring to motor vehicles. With the current weather and forecast bicycle to Lottie Potrero would be delightful.
If indeed the road is closed to motor vehicles it will be nice and quiet down there. Beautiful views and so much more!!

Re: USFS reason for continued closure south of N-F Road

Just rec'd this reply from Supervisor Salinas' office: "These are Forest Service Roads. The County simply has a maintenance agreement with USFS. Some sections have apparently been gated (for safety reasons) for many years. Forest Service has complete jurisdiction and they would be able to answe...

Re: USFS reason for continued closure south of N-F Road

I have been curious as to the status of the Monterey County Road which traverse the USFS lands from the Hunter-Liggett boundary to Arroyo Seco (the Milpitas, Arroyo Seco Road). The road has been barricaded by the USFS at the Hunter Liggett boundary with cones, notices of closure and a big sawhorse-t...

Re: A Controversial Plan to Privatize Campgrounds & Trailhea

Since this "Plan" will be charging $20 per night to camp at Escondido and Memorial Park (aka The Indians) it will most likely be pushing more campers out into the nearby Milpitas area. I would hope that the USFS took this into consideration when they proposed this change? These areas are n...

Re: Reopening the Indians - Arroyo Seco Road

Every time there is a fire they punch through the slide to open the road.
The slides then re-cover the road.

It sure would be nice if the USFS would put things like this on their website.
