I only hiked about a mile of this trail from rainbow camp. It was pretty cold the day we hiked in and many parts of the trail were still frozen so it didn't linger too long.

Did an out and back on this trail between Pine Ridge Trail and the south fork of the big Sur River.

Generally it just needs basic maintenance to keep it Green!

We climed out of pine valley on this trail up to Pine Ridge Trail.

We saw Lynn and another VWA ranger coming down after doing some tree work and vegtation removal.

I was on a short segment of this trial from Pine Ridge to the Bear Basin Trail.
The trail is good shap no large pine trees have fallen in this segment this year.

We started at China Camp Trailhead on 01/19/25 for an out and back. We were only on the Eastern portion of this trail between China Camp TH and Big Sur Trail.

Slight update to my 05/05/24 report.

I finished reviewing the footage.

The tree count from the trip is 31 trees removed from the trail during the four-day trip.

Betsy led a great volunteer saw trip which allowed me to help remove 26 trees between Terrace Creek and Redwood Creek Camp.

Including our primary objective a big redwood tree complex near Redwood ...

I just want to say thank you to all the folks who have advocated to keep the forest open in the Winter.

It is a special place and I am so happy it is currently open and has not faced a Winter closer this year.
