Re: Shangri La and VDB seems to be now burned....
No, the unburned islands are not all gone. The Incident Management Team has just decided not to track them and is including them in the burned acreage. An unburned island that is well within the black line may or may not actually burn; we won't know until the rain finally puts the fire out. So the &...

We have in fact accomplished a great deal, even though we have not done all that we would have liked. Our accomplishments include: • Completio...

Re: Backcountry hot tubs coming out.
I have to confess something though. I love picnic tables. It is nice to sit down and have a place to put things. Those are also not allowed in a wilderness area. General Condition: Wilderness Freeway (Heavily used and well maintained)
The stumphole from the downed oak has been filled. There is a small dip in the trail where it was, but after it hardens, the trail should be as good as new.

Re: Cone Peak loop parking options and questions.
The Cone Peak Road is closed for the season, so you won't be able to park at one of the trailheads there. That will add an in-and-out walk to your hike. If you park at the trailhead across from Kirk Creek Campground, you can hike up to Vicente Flat Camp (5 mi) and start the loop from there. It's abo...

Re: Post Fire
The incident (LPF-2121) is no longer listed as an open incident on http://www.wildcad.net/WCCALPF.htm, so presumably it is deemed out.

Items lost at Vicente Flat Camp
The items in the photo below lost1.JPG are a pair of curved titanium tent poles about 30" long and a Luci solar-charged, inflatable LED lantern. They were found at Vicente Flat Camp between June 24 and July 18 and are now at the Monterey Ranger District Office. If you are the owner of one of th...
