I have a couple of web pages bookmarked on the SLO wildernesses. Maybe you'll find these helpful, even if the discussion is not about the Condor Trail per se.

The files listed at http://www.condortrail.com/maps-trail-descriptions/ are mostly OK, but you need to correct an error they made when they posted them. Download the files. Then change the extension from .kml to .html. What they posted are not the .kml files themselves, but rather web page (.html) files that fetch them. Open the now-renamed .html files in the browser of your choice -- I did it in Firefox -- and you'll get a box asking if you want to display the .kml file in Google Earth or save it. When trying the options, this version of the .kml file displays just fine in Google Earth for me. If saved, it behaved as one would expect for a .kml file.

I've stared at these maps too. I have on my "someday list" some sort of excursion to the San Luis Obisbo section, passing through one or more of the three wilderness areas.

Condor Trail

Trying to find out more information about the trail and the route online and the links to the .kml routes on the condor trail webpage are all broken and are not able to be imported. Does anyone happen to have these files or know where I can find more information about the route?
