When you make a donation to the VWA, you are part of a community of people who believe the Ventana and Silver Peak Wilderness areas are ecological jewels worth protecting. For over twenty years, the Ventana Wilderness Alliance (VWA) has advocated for and acted as stewards of these lands so they can remain wild places that people can access and experience — forever. Thank you!

 

THE IMPACT OF YOUR SUPPORT

Here are some of the examples of how your gift will be put to work:

 

  • Our Youth in Wilderness field instructors leads Monterey Bay Area teens on free, multi-day backpacking excursions in Wilderness. Over 80% of participants served are Latine from communities historically underrepresented in outdoor spaces like National Forests.
  • Big Sur backcountry trails can become next to impassable in a matter of a season — our dedicated volunteer and contract Trail Crews work hard to keep trails maintained.
  • Our team of 20+ Volunteer Wilderness Rangers educate backcountry visitors about campfire safety and “pack it in, pack it out” etiquette — making the forest a cleaner, safer place to visit.
