Feb 24-25th Carrizo Trail Trip
8 intrepid backpackers braved the previous days' snow and a 20 percent chance of rain to spend some time on the glorious Carrizo Trail. The day was perfect for both hiking and working - cool and clear. It was my first time to Carrizo Camp, but with Betsy and Robert leading the way, we had no troubles finding it. We spent most of the day clearing the camp so that 7 people could sleep there, and then some of us worked above the camp, and some of us below the camp. As usual for these sorts of trips, we had a glorious potluck appetizer party. Esperanza left us with about 3 pounds of fried chicken, there were cheeses and crackers of every kind, and chocolate too. Adult beverages were served too! At around 11pm it started raining and blowing hard, and it didn't really let up until about 8am. In the morning there wasn't much point in spending time working in wet brush, so we hiked our way out to railroad bridge. A couple of our members had never started from there and decided that it was a much nicer route than the one by White Bridge. All in all, it was a great trip! dbk
