The VWA Trail Crew has undertaken the daunting task of regrading the tread
on the beautiful and historic Buckeye Trail between Buckeye Flat and the
Cruikshank homestead in the heart of the Silver Peak Wilderness. Due to the
project's relative proximity to the trailhead on Highway 1 (about a 4 mile
hike) we're planning to accomplish the project by way of a series of
day-trips and overnighters at Buckeye Camp, keeping at it until the work is
done or the soil dries out, whichever comes first.
If you have a soft spot for sweeping ocean views, the fragrant aroma of warm
sagebrush and bay, cordial comaraderie and the deep, deep sleep that comes
only after a long day of hiking and swinging a heavy tread tool, by all
means come join us. We'd be honored to work with you.
