SUMMITS
(confessions of a peak bagger)
by
Thom Carson
To climb, to climb, to climb
that's why I have to go,
The most natural of highs
with almost nothing to show,
Toil, ache, and sweat
are my claim to fame,
A register upon the top
to soon bear my name.
The mountains are a beauty
for most the world to see,
But also a means to an end
for those who think like me,
We've heard a million excuses
why others had to stop,
But summiteers truly earn
their lonely view from the top.
