Discuss Wilderness Issues

Welcome to the Ventana Wilderness Alliance website. We're an all-volunteer grass-roots organization dedicated to protecting the wildlands of central California's wondrous northern Santa Lucia mountains and Big Sur coast.

We think you'll find this site to be the most complete source of information about this remarkable area available, and urge you to spend some time browsing through the links to the left. You'll find up-to-date trail condition reports, fascinating historical and botanical articles, photography and poetry in the Double Cone Quarterly, an interactive forum where you can ask (and answer) questions of other Ventana and Big Sur aficionados, and much, much more.
