Annual Gift

At the end of each year, we reach out to our members for financial support to sustain our work through the coming year. Members are ablto to direct thier gift to a specific VWA project or program, such as Youth in Wilderness or the Cone Peak Trails Project by noting their specific choice in the "notes" section of the online check out screen. This Annual Appeal is our largest single fundraiser, and only through the generous year-end support of our members are we able to sustain our work throughout the year.

Why join the VWA?

• We Get Things Done- In 2010, VWA volunteer trail crew members gave back over 4500 hours to rehabilitating and restoring trails, from Black Cone to Cone Peak, to the Buckeye.
• We're Building Tomorrow's Stewards Today- Through our Youth in Wilderness program, we directly combat Nature Defecit disorder by connecting local youth to wild places.
• We're Effective- For over a decade, VWA has helped preserve new Wilderness, reformed damaging land use practices and worked collaboratively to ensure protection of wild rivers wildlife habitat, public acces and cultural resources.
• We're Local-the VWA is the only group focused soley on protecting the wilderness qualities and biological diversity on the public lands in the northern Santa Lucia Mountains and Big Sur Coast.
• We're Efficient- For the first half of 2011(our most recent figures), VWA spent 91 cents of ever dollar directly on our Stewardship and Advocacy programs.
