David was located at N35◦ 49’ 43.12” W121◦ 17” 44.69”, this would put him east of the Dutra Trail about 1.5 miles North East of Dutra Flats. It appears he may have gotten off the Dutra Trail and followed down a ridge above Davis Canyon. David did the right thing by staying put and making himself visible on a high ridge, he was easy to spot, see the video on the CHP facebook https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q= ... operations

Here's a photo of Mr. Laiho. As K Vandevere mentions below, please call Monterey County SAR (831-647-7911) if you've seen him.

Overdue Hiker at Salmon Creek

Postby K Vandevere on Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:55 am

There's a search underway this morning for David Laiho, who was expected to return to his vehicle at the Salmon Creek Trailhead Saturday morning, but failed to do so. A helicopter is currently overflying the area to assist in the search. If you were hiking in the area at any time since Wednesday and saw a solo male hiker, the Monterey County Sheriff's Search & Rescue Team would probably like to hear from you. Any information might help.
