Sea to Salad Bowl

Had a great time over the weekend doing the walk from Limekiln to Arroyo Seco in just under 24 hours. Left the beach at just after 3 in the afternoon on Saturday and headed up the Stone Ridge direct use trail over Twin Peak to Cone Peak. Hung out on top of Cone Peak for about an hour to enjoy the sunset, then head out in the twilight to Junipero Serra past Trail Springs over the North Coast Ridge Trail and down the Arroyo Seco trail. Turned off the headlamp for Junipero Serra to enjoy the moonlight on the uphill. Reached Pimkolam Summit just as the sun was coming up. It was a true treat running into Leor Pantilat and James Bueno as I was heading down to take the Santa Lucia trail into Arroyo Seco Campground. The upper part of the Santa Lucia trail is quite the bush-whacky adventure, as always, with a few dicey spots where you definitely want to watch your traction. All in all, about 34 miles with 12,300 feet of up and 11,200 feet of down according to my GPS. Everything was clear and easy passage EXCEPT the upper part of the Santa Lucia trail which is very challenging and a short dicey section where the trail washed out just past Last Chance Camp.
