Absolutely ! Try Bottcher's gap to Ventana Double Cone. You will no doubt encounter poison oak but it "should" be avoidable. You will need to know what it looks like because there is no way you will encounter it and you "should" be able to avoid it.

I did an east-west through hike from Santa Lucia Memorial > Arroyo Seco > North Coast Ridge Trail > Gamboa > Stone Ridge > Vicente Flat that was ~18. PO wasn't bad. You could do out-and-back to get over 30. Vicente is a zoo though. And inland has face flies and heat right now. I did it in the spring.

Coast Ridge Rd looks viable. Thanks!

30 Miler Without Poison Oak??

Postby alex-henson on Sun Jul 10, 2016 11:20 am

Any place in Ventana where I can do a 30 miler and not bushwhack through PO? I've started at the reservoir and gone towards Double Cone, but found Puerto Suelo was the most terrible trail ever. Tried from Arroyo Seco heading West, but soon was pushing through PO. Tried going past Sykes, same thing.

Seems like Ventana just wants me to get PO if I intend to do a long day. What's up with that? Suggestions? Thanks in advance.
