More than 500 wilderness activists from the western states gathered last week at the UC Berkeley campus for the Western Wilderness Conference 2010. VWA was represented by about 15 members including staff and board members. Forty-six work shops were presented covering all aspects of the wilderness preservation movement including two by VWA co-founder Gordon Johnson. Numerous other talks and sessions were presented by such wilderness illuminati as Doug Scott, Dave Foreman, Rick Ridgeway and George Wuerthner. It was an excellent conference, of value to all wilderness activists from the purists to the pragmatists.
