An injured hiker and her companion were rescued Saturday by a California Highway Patrol helicopter and transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton. The Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade was called to the scene on Highway 1 about five miles north of the San Luis Obispo County line about 3 p.m. A woman whose name was not immediately available fell and broke a leg, said Martha Karstens, who is with the fire brigade.
