Re: the mysterious jackhammer springs trail....?

it does go down a ridge line, and then dips down into a dry, steep valley that dead ends at the river. there's some old reminders of the trail, but for the most part it's gone. i don't believe it's offical forest service trail, so it's not upkept. the spring on the road by the trailhead does still flow with water. it's pretty high up...close to hanging valley. i heard that people use to ride their horses down and back up that trail. my friends and i use to race one another up from the bottom...my best time...29:00 min. whew! p.s. there use to be an old plane crash by the trail up high in the hot brush, but it was eventually removed.
