I can't vouch for the current conditions - I haven't been up since last March. However, the trail is actually not that bad and climbing it has always seemed more pleasant than some of the other ways to get to the Coast Ridge Trail. There are spots about three quarters of the way up where numerous small pines and other brush have sprouted in the old trail. They aren't much of an obstacle to the climber, but when going down, I have had to be particularly careful not to lose the trail and wander off into dead ends and rocks. There is supposed to be a foot path that circumvents the 4800+ ft. peak the main track climbs over. I have never taken it, but if it still exists, it traverses the south side of that unnamed peak. Going all the way up and then down the tractor trail to Rodeo Flats provides some absolutely wonderful views from the top of that peak. Just don't do what I did a few years ago when I was leading a group: stayed on top to watch the sun set over the Pacific and then have to spend the night on a flat spot in the trail because I couldn't navigate the route safely down to Forks Camp even with headlamps.
