Verizon works at my house in Big Sur and many other spots I've found by trial. There is are ATT and Verizon antennae at post ranch so on the south coast just about anywhere you can see or almost see that ridge my phone works. I've been up high in the Ventana where I can see for miles in every direction and get 5 bars but no calls go out. Seems if I get behind a ridge where I can only see in one direction calls will work...true at the Vicente upper trailhead, on Skinner ridge, end of cone peak road. I've had good luck with the basic LG phones. Wife and kid's Motorola, Samsung and Kyocera- less good. (My phone works at Esalen in two spots)
