It should be better than that report indicated. Stevenson Wilderness leaders cleared the trail between Willow Springs Camp and most of the way to the top of the ridge before the connector to Strawberry. And they also cleared the Black Cone Trail. Several of our groups took the BCT successfully in early March. Probably the toughest section will be from the top of the Black Cone Trail back to Church Creek Divide, where a large number of trees cross the trail. However, backpackers have completed the route you are interested in over the past month and report it is passable. The section I last reported as impassable between Wildcat Camp and the Tassajara Road has been thoroughly cleared.
