Paul, thanks for the heads up. I did get your email. Well, here's what I found, or didn't find out, regarding Outlaw Camp. Apparently you must have to be a real outlaw, or MaGyver, to find it b/c we sure didn't see anything. Our overall trip went like this: Day 1, Big Sur Ranger station, Pine Ridge Trail to Ventana Camp (which I don't think I'll ever see again! the hike down/up was pretty intense). Day 2, Ventana Camp to Terrace Creek Camp for lunch, decided we have alot of hiking left in us and headed up Terrace Creek Trail toward Outlaw Camp and eventually Coast Ridge Trail. I had GPS coordinates for Outlaw and read in a hiking guide that it was .8 miles (exactly half way) from both trial heads. However, the sign at Terrace Creek says the total distance btw. trail heads is 2 mi. Well, even at .8 miles, 1 mile and with GPS coords we didn't see a trace of Outlaw Camp. Terrace Creek trail was cleared recently and was in good shape. There was so much downed trees and debris that the turn off for Outlaw Camp could have easily been covered up over the years. Since we had young boys with us we continued as far as we could down Coast Ridge road so we wouldn't have so far to hike on day 3 back to the Ranger Station (along HWY 1). Well, we ended up camping just off the road on private property about 1.25 miles down from Terrace Creek Trail junction. We did the best we could to LNT and I think we did a pretty could job. Interestingly enough, it appears the search for Outlaw Camp is quit popular. On day 3 farther down Coast Ridge Trail we ran into a couple of old timers, GPS equiped, with coords and info from their fellow old timers on just were Outlaw Camp was and they were off to find it for themselves. I'd love to know if they ever did! Sorry to ramble, hope you have better luck!
