I was on Cone Peak Road last Friday and Saturday. The road is fine. You can drive it without having any brush touching your vehicle. The Forest Service has had to do significant maintenance on Cone Peak Road in '08 ... but it is clear at least up to about 2 miles past the Vicente Flat trailhead. No need for 4 wheel drive either. Side Note: Recently, the VWA Trail Crew volunteers have been working the Vicente Flat trail from Cone Peak Road down to Vicente Flat as part of the Cone Peak Trails Network Project. Go see the great work they've done ... or better yet join them on the next trip from April 28 - May 4. Email daveknapp@ventanawild.org for details.
