Worth considerding too is that topic of Lyme danger from ticks in CA has historically been grossly inflated and over-reported by those who would misdiagnose and mistreat Chronic Lyme/Chronic Fatigue/Fibromyalgia/Epstein-Barr/Whatever to make a quick-quack buck.
I would NOT therefore consider a lone contrary view on Wikipedia to be definitive. (Heck, even I could write an authoritative treatise on it this afternoon, and post it to Wikipedia--where it would persist until someone challenged it.)
