It sounds like you have been there much more recently than I have, but some time a couple of decades ago (!) I did spend a night at Outlaw Camp. And the last time I was on the trail, I "felt" the junction ought to be from one of those switchbacks. Ten minutes from the Coast Ridge Road feels too high; I think it was about 2/3rds the way up. I do recollect a fairly long traverse east, I think it was level, before reaching the small camp. If there actually was a homestead cabin there, the flat ground should remain, so maybe someone could do some bushwhacking and find it again.
I did find this year that besides the camping spots above the Terrace Creek and Pine Ridge Trail junction which I have used before, there are quite a few good spots further down the creek. Quite a few people can camp along the creek and remain isolated by the noise from the water and the large trees.
