I have tried to locate this camp and it is not a slam dunk, to say the least. The 1969 first edition Sierra Club trail guide says the following: "This camp is only a ten -minute walk from the junction (on the old coast road with the Terrace Creek Trail)and makes a pleasant stopping place for lunch. There is a stove, but no table. A fine spring is located just below the remains of an old cabin." It also indicated it is 0.8 miles below the above mentioned junction and 0.8 miles above Terrace Creek Camp. It also mentions that there is a "junction" to the "Outlaw Creek Camp trail" at that 0.8 mile mid-point. So I suppose one could figure its location that way. One may or may not find any evidence of the old camp itself. --- Schaeffer actually locates the camp (on a topo map page in his trail guide) about 6/10ths of the way down from the road to Terrace Creek Camp, right where the switchbacks-down, straighten and start to level. I have explored this spot and found nothing but a sloped area. There IS a faint use trail (going down from the main trail) to the creek and a big tree on the other side with a suggestion of a cramped place to sit. --- Farther downtrail is an actual fire-ring near a redwood and a water crossing. It is in current use and it feels more like an outpost of Terrace Creek Camp than a separate and distinct named camp. So, give it a go and see what you conclude from actual onsite visitation.
