i was "day-hiking" the Sta Lucia trail 3 weeks ago..it was decent about 2 to 3 miles from Indians Rd...however..if indeed you are describing Last Chance Creek..some one had left a note at the trailhead saying "Don't try to get to Last Chance..it took us forever"......so..that's what i know
