For your Bottchers trail head trips, the trail from there to Devils Peak is steep but very scenic. About thousand feet up to Skinners Ridge, another thousand to devils peak.

The trail is usually in decent condition, but see my recent trail report involving the recent downfall.

Devils Peak (which isnt much of a peak or summit) is open, sandy, and has a campfire ring, but camping up there is apparently illegal. The closest water is back 1/4 mile down the turner creek trail at apple tree camp (apple tree camp is not along the skinner ridge trail as is appears on maps).

Comings camp is open, but has no views and unreliable water. I would rely on water there only if there was at least a couple inches a month prior.

Pat Springs is exactly what you may be looking for, a scenic camp up on a bluff overlooking the little sur watersheds, and a reliable spring nearby.

You should be fine with one of those guides and the USGS topo maps.
