ventana camp is very nice but if exertion is an issue consider that it is a steep mile down to the river from the pine ridge trail. terrace creek is the same distance from the trailhead (both are five miles in) but is actually on the pine ridge trail and involves less up and down. i have taken people who are not in great physical condition backpacking and would not recommend the trail to ventana camp for them. that isn't to say they couldn't do it, it just might involve extra time and sweat.
