Re: That was "Fred's Fire"

Being a seasoned veteran of Monterey County, I would like to respond to the inquiries about the naming of "Fred's Fire". I spent a lot of time in my younger days back in the mid 60's and early 70's in the Arroyo Seco. The last chance place to stop and buy beer before heading back into the "gorge" was "Fred's Camp", which was and still is located just before the government camp. I guess it is now called Arroyo Center but for years it was known,and for some it will always be known as "Fred's Camp". Since the fire started near here and the accused arson lived here, Ive got to assume that's how the fire got it's name.
