How this forum "acts" is up to the people who post on it. However the VWA has established certain ground rules, among which is a ban on the discussion of environmentally or culturally sensitive offtrail areas and potentially attractive offtrail resources like hot springs. The guiding principle is that "wilderness begins where the trail ends", and any discussion of offtrail resources in a *public* forum like this might lead to increased offtrail traffic, the degradation of the wilderness qualities of these areas, and perhaps the establishment of permanent use trails, all of which would be contrary to the mission of the VWA.

Backroad camping locations do not fall under the heading of environmentally or culturally sensitive offtrail areas. They are on roads.

This is the way it is, Bob. Every forum has rules of some sort, established by the forum moderators and/or the sponsoring organization for their own reasons. Posters can either agree to abide by these rules, or go elsewhere. If you want to discuss "hidden" offtrail hot springs on a public forum (in other words, make the general public aware of their locations) then consider another forum - Craig's List's outdoor discussion boards for example.
