It rained here in LA for 14 straight days last January, and we nearly had 40 inches by the time it was all said and done. It was a great year for hiking, especially down in the Los Padres, with creeks running high clear into September. Here in LA, we had water pouring down from the Santa Monica Mountains and onto PCH clear into June.
What about this year? Are extremely wet years generally followed by extremely dry ones?
I actually hike quite a bit in the Ventanas (when I can spare the 5 1/2 hour drive from West LA) and there always seems to be water somewhere.
