About VWAFounded in the summer of 1998, the Ventana Wilderness Alliance is a California nonprofit corporation with IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status dedicated to protecting the wildlands of California's northern Santa Lucia mountain range. Our organization is composed of people from all walks of life with at least one thing in common: a love of the wilderness and a desire to help see to it that what little is left in our area remains as such in perpetuity.
The primary focus of the Ventana Wilderness Alliance is that of working with the various agencies responsible for the management of our local public lands, and offering our collective experience to aid them in making decisions that impact our forests. Our scope of concern is much larger than this, though, as can be gleaned from our Declaration of Purpose, list of current projects, and our organizational policies.. If, after looking all this over, you feel a sense of like-mindedness with our cause, then by all means come join us. We'd be honored to have you on our team.

Our Declaration of Purpose
To promote awareness of the natural beauty and wild state of the northern Santa Lucia mountain range and to advocate for its protection as such, while bringing together into a unified and resolute force the many concerned individuals who share an affinity and respect for this unique and sacred place.
Toward this end the Ventana Wilderness Alliance will, at the grass-roots level:Nurture cooperative and effective relationships with similarly concerned agencies and organizations, both public and private.
